West Country Schools Trust

Shaping futures and making learning fun again.

Conceptual Layout Design, Infographics & Iconography

Recently I produced a knowledge organiser for West Country School’s Trust and Plymstock School based here in Plymouth. The aim of which was to give new year 7 pupils at the school, a brief overview of what they’ll be learning during their first year in secondary education.

The whole concept of the 180 page publication is centred around shaping futures, as this will be the pupils first steps into finding out what they love and what careers they might go on to have. Both the school and trust didn’t want this to be another dry educational document. It needed to be visually appealing and interesting.

For some parts of the organiser, I utilised and amended photography and illustration from stock libraries to bring into line with the dynamic look and feel we were trying to achieve.

For a large part however, I designed many bespoke infographics and iconography, creating ownable assets for teachers to use in class.

The finished document is far from boring. It makes learning fun again, but at the same time complements the important syllabus. It’s always a goal of mine to make things functional and visually appealing, and this organiser is the perfect embodiment of this.
